Business Development Associate

Job Summary

Proxima Fusion, a leading fusion technology company based in Munich, is looking for a Business Development Associate to join its fast‑growing team. The role involves driving the front‑end of the deal funnel—building market reports, competitive landscapes and company mappings that inform investment decisions. The associate will create business cases and decision memos that guide leadership and board approvals, and will lead deal workstreams such as expert calls, reference checks and data‑room screening. The position offers exposure to the entire business development playbook, from initial market scan to go/no‑go decisions, with a focus on inorganic deals such as acquisitions, minority stakes and joint ventures. The associate will collaborate with cross‑functional teams including engineering, finance, legal and supply chain, while also contributing to the function’s roadmap and leveraging AI tools to accelerate research and drafting. Ideal candidates have 2–3 years of experience in strategy consulting, private equity, venture capital or a fast‑paced startup environment, especially with experience in industrials, energy or advanced manufacturing. A STEM degree or technical fluency is required, along with strong market modeling, memo‑writing, and communication skills. Fluency in English is essential; German is a plus.
