Senior Database Reliability Engineer I

Job Summary

Storyblok is looking for a seasoned senior database reliability engineer to own the performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency of its Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL platform. The role blends deep PostgreSQL expertise with infrastructure‑as‑code skills, requiring a strong ability to design query and index strategies, manage vacuum and bloat, and execute zero‑downtime upgrades across major version changes. As part of the infrastructure team, you will develop and maintain Terraform configurations, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog). You will also lead on‑call rotations, incident response, and post‑mortem analysis to ensure high availability and reliability of the data platform. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of production database experience, a thorough understanding of Amazon Aurora, and a proven track record of complex schema migrations and disaster‑recovery planning. Strong communication skills are essential for explaining trade‑offs to backend developers and non‑technical stakeholders in a remote‑first environment.
