Prime Minister Amit Shah, in a press statement, alleged that the West Bengal government under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had declined to provide land earmarked for a fencing project. Shah said the refusal was a deliberate attempt to obstruct a central initiative aimed at improving security infrastructure.
The leader also accused the state administration of shielding a syndicate of private contractors, claiming that the syndicate had benefited from state contracts while the government denied public land to the central project. Shah argued that this arrangement favored private interests over public welfare.
The comments come as part of a broader dispute over land acquisition for state and central projects in West Bengal, where the central government has repeatedly sought cooperation from the state for infrastructure development.
Mamata Banerjee’s government has not yet responded to the allegations, and the issue remains a point of contention between the central and state administrations.
