In a recent statement, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee directed law enforcement authorities to take action on remarks deemed insulting to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The CM expressed that no individual—whether political, academic or otherwise—would be exempt from investigation.
Banerjee’s comments came after a public figure made statements that many in the state considered disrespectful to the national hero. The chief minister underscored the importance of upholding the dignity of Bose’s legacy.
The police have been instructed to probe the incident and, if necessary, pursue legal measures against the person responsible. The directive reflects the state government’s commitment to safeguarding historical figures from defamation.
