Hyderabad police have assembled a 20,000‑strong force to oversee the upcoming Ganesh idol immersion, which will travel a 19‑kilometre stretch through the city. Authorities have set up traffic control measures, barricades and crowd‑management plans to ensure a smooth procession. The event, part of the city’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, mirrors similar preparations seen in Kolkata, underscoring the importance of coordinated policing during major cultural festivals.

Hyderabad police have mobilised 20,000 officers to manage the city’s upcoming Ganesh idol immersion, a key event of Ganesh Chaturthi. The procession will follow a 19‑ kilometre route that cuts across several busy districts, requiring extensive traffic and crowd control.

Police have laid out a comprehensive plan that includes temporary road closures, traffic diversions and the deployment of barricades at critical junctions. Special task forces will monitor crowd density and provide emergency medical support if needed.

The immersion process is a staple of the festival, where the idol is carried to a water body for a symbolic immersion ceremony. By enlisting a large police contingent, Hyderabad aims to minimise disruptions and maintain public safety, a strategy similar to those used in Kolkata during its own immersion festivities.

Officials hope the coordinated efforts will allow devotees to participate without incident, while also preserving the integrity of the ritual and the city’s infrastructure.
