INS Kolkata Outpaces Pakistan’s PNS Hunain in Capabilities

The Indian Navy’s guided‑missile destroyer INS Kolkata, commissioned in 2016, is regarded as having superior combat capabilities compared to Pakistan’s PNS Hunain. Kolkata, built by Goa Shipyard and equipped with BrahMos missiles, represents the most advanced class of destroyers in the Indian fleet. In contrast, PNS Hunain, a smaller Pakistani warship, lacks comparable firepower and modern systems. Analysts note the disparity in armament, speed and electronic warfare suites between the two vessels.

The Indian Navy’s INS Kolkata, a guided‑missile destroyer launched in 2016, is considered one of the most advanced warships in the Indian fleet. Built by Goa Shipyard, it carries BrahMos supersonic missiles and advanced radar systems.

Pakistan’s PNS Hunain, a smaller naval vessel, does not match Kolkata’s firepower or technological edge. While PNS Hunain serves in the Pakistani Navy, its armament and speed are significantly lower.

Military analysts point out that Kolkata’s superior missile load, electronic warfare capabilities and overall design give it a decisive advantage over PNS Hunain. The difference highlights the technological gap between the two navies.

The comparison underscores India’s continued investment in naval modernization and the importance of maintaining a qualitative edge in the region.
