The Chief Minister of Karnataka has announced a plan to establish model parliament units in schools and colleges throughout the state. The move is intended to provide students with hands‑on experience of parliamentary procedures and to strengthen their skills in debate, research and public speaking.

According to the CM, the initiative will help students gain a deeper appreciation of the democratic framework and develop critical thinking abilities. It is expected to be implemented over the upcoming academic years.

The proposal comes amid a growing focus on improving civic education in India’s educational system. If adopted, the model parliament will serve as a platform for students to simulate legislative debates and understand the functioning of governance at a grassroots level.
