Kochi Faces Water Supply Disruptions as Multiple Pipelines Burst

In the last month, several water pipes have ruptured across Kochi and its surrounding municipalities. The latest break was detected on S.R.M. Road, affecting the pipeline that serves Pachalam and Ayyappankkavu. The leaks have caused intermittent water shortages, prompting emergency repairs. Local authorities are working to restore supply and investigate the cause of the failures.

Over the past month, a series of water‑pipeline ruptures have been reported throughout Kochi and neighbouring areas. The most recent incident was identified on S.R.M. Road, where a leak was found in the network supplying the Pachalam and Ayyappankkavu localities.

The burst lines have led to temporary water shortages for residents in the affected zones. Emergency crews were dispatched to contain the leaks and begin preliminary repairs.

City officials have announced that a full assessment of the pipeline system will be conducted to prevent further disruptions. Residents are advised to use stored water until service is restored.

The municipal water authority is coordinating with state departments to secure additional resources for a swift recovery.
