Weather experts warn that Kolkata may receive more rain in the coming days as Durga Puja approaches. The Meteorological Department has issued a moderate rain alert for Kolkata as the city prepares for the annual Durga Puja celebrations. Forecasts indicate a 40‑percent chance of rainfall in the next 48 hours, with occasional heavy downpours possible.

The municipal corporation has advised residents to keep all outdoor arrangements ready for sudden showers and urged local vendors and organizers to secure their materials. Police officials are also on standby to manage traffic and crowd control in the event of rain‑related disruptions.

While the rains are expected to be brief, the city’s water‑logging issues in the past have raised concerns. City officials have requested that the public minimise use of open drains and keep public spaces clean to prevent overflow. Despite the weather warning, most puja committees remain confident that celebrations will proceed with necessary precautions.
