The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), is attempting to make a foray into Presidency University by hosting its first event on the campus.
Presidency University is known as the college where prominent nationalist figures studied. These include Syama Prasad Mookerjee, to whom the RSS traces its ideological lineage, and Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, the poet who penned the nationalistic song Vande Mataram.
