Five years after an alleged incident of post-election violence in Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas, legal authorities have exhumed the remains of a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker to conduct further forensic examinations.
The exhumation procedure took place under magistrate oversight and with police security following directives from the court. Forensic experts plan to re-examine the remains to establish crucial details regarding the cause and nature of death, which could provide key evidence for the ongoing legal proceedings.
Sandeshkhali has periodically witnessed political tension and allegations surrounding post-electoral clashes. Investigative agencies expect the updated forensic findings to help resolve long-standing questions surrounding the victim's death as the case progresses through the judicial system.
