The West Bengal Police have introduced a new saffron‑coloured uniform for its 20,000 volunteer officers.
The initiative, announced in a press briefing in Kolkata, aims to improve the visibility of volunteers during public events and routine patrols. Volunteers will receive matching shirts, trousers and badges, with distribution beginning in late August.
Police officials say the new look will strengthen community policing efforts and boost morale among volunteers, who play a key role in maintaining public order across the state.
